Data sources & licences
Who published it, under what licence, and how we credit them.
Every finding in a KRAYN report is cited to the dataset it came from. This page is the other half of that: the licence each dataset is published under, and the attribution that licence requires us to carry.
What this page does not yet cover
25 of 96 published here
KRAYN reads 96 datasets that meet our counting rule — the figure behind “90+ government datasets”, counted August 2026. This page publishes the licence and attribution for 25 of them. The rest are not listed here yet, and they are missing for one reason: a licence page may not guess a licence. Every row below is copied from a filed record — a publisher's own wording, a written clearance, or a custodian's reply. A row we could only infer would look exactly like a row we can prove, which is the one confusion this page exists to prevent. They are added as each clearance is filed. How we count datasets.

Licences are dated positions, not permanent ones. Where a custodian's grant is present-tense, we record the date it was given and re-confirm it rather than assuming it holds. Where a dataset is published with no licence at all, we say so in the row instead of choosing one. Mapping and aerial imagery in reports carry their own third-party terms, set out in our Terms of Service.
